Doc chiropodist claims he saves more lives than doctors

In a New York Times interview a chiropodist known as Doc argues he saves more people from acute misery than physicians. He warns 95 percent of New Yorkers have some foot trouble and stresses washing feet, proper socks, and well fitting shoes as relief, while blaming shoe design and city pavements for woes. He treats about 200 patients weekly, earning over 4500 dollars yearly.

Express elevating incident and double pike catch

A New York Post report recounts a ride in a swift express elevator where a man felt qualms before exiting on a high floor and returning to street level. The piece contrasts with a Michigan fisherman’s tale of catching two pike from Selkirk Lake, one two pounds and a five pound fish entangled on the line.
