A Port Townsend dispatch says the steamers Jennie and Portland, reported missing, were sighted in an ice pack on June 17 about eighty miles north of Cape Prince of Wales. The Centennial arrived at Portland with news of their safety, and Thetis remains by the imprisoned vessels with good prospects for escape.
William Henry Jacobs, son of Mrs. Charles P. Jacobs of 1225 North Pennsylvania street Indianapolis, rides from here to Denver on a pony for a $1000 wager. The bet was placed by two noted Colorado horsemen. Jacobs, polo club member and polo pony owner, seeks safe arrival to claim the prize. His widow mother owns a Kit Carson Colorado ranch and he traveled to Montana three weeks ago to select a pony for polo use.
