A diplomat held the position of secretary of legation at Washington for a number of years and married an American girl. His wife was Miss Wilson, sister of Mrs Cornelius Vanderbilt of New York. She formerly resided at Denver Colorado.

In Cleveland on June 4, W. H. Stecher bought the bankrupt Muhlhauser Shoddy Manufacturing property for 137000 worth of silver coins. Creditors refused the bidder’s check, but he returned with clerks and the full amount in silver, which was laid at the judge's feet. A bag burst releasing silver across the room as two express wagons took the coins away.
Colorado Springs report details John Evans of Lincoln Illinois who survived appendicitis after an undertaker brought a coffin and waited a week to see him die. Evans recovered and was removed to St Francis hospital while his father arranged the casket return and eventual plans for burial.
