In Waterbury Connecticut on June 2 George Musgrave, 28, battled forest fires until 1 a.m. He returned home, encountered a rattlesnake den on Snake and Cat Hills, and fought to free himself as snakes struck. He killed fifteen rattlers and several other venomous snakes in a desperate, odor-filled struggle.
June 2. Jamee Robinson, recently convicted of a murderous assault, was to be executed tomorrow but was found dead in his cell this morning. Authorities deem death by own action.

In New Haven a performing bear in a vaudeville theater cage dragged 15 year old Tommy Malloy’s leg from the knee as boys watched. Hazelton Pa June 2 there is an almost unanimous response by firemen and pump runners to the strike. All companies filled striker vacancies with non union men from Philadelphia and the situation remains quiet.
Chicago June 2 The second week of the Teamsters strike at packing houses sees nonunion drivers still hauling meat under police guard. Strikers expect aid from ice and coal drivers as tensions persist.
Rich Philadelphian Pat Sheedy sued C Frederick Kohl for $28,000 claiming payment on a note from January 2, 1900 after gambling losses in Naples. The defense argued gambling debts had no legal status in Italy or Pennsylvania and a conspiracy alleged by Walch and Gray. Justice Gildersleeve ruled against Sheedy.
Bishop R. S Deener of the Methodist Episcopal Church South is jailed in Batesville Arkansas charged with forging securities totaling 1008 dollars. Once a prominent White River conference figure he had vanished to Mexico to study medicine before health and finances failed.

In Galicia at Seaburg on June 2 a serious affray broke out on the Schner ven plaza as an infantry company returning from drill was pelted with stones by strikers. Several soldiers were injured in the clash.
