The Army plans to replace the traditional blue uniform with a green one in a future phase. Officials state the change aims at practicality and modernizing the service dress.
Washington July 14 the uniform board led by Major General Hughes submitted a report to the Secretary of War urging major reforms. Suggested are new khaki green field uniforms replacing blue, a brief overcoat, removal of the helmet, redesigned dress items, smaller shoulder boards, and a shift in insignia toward practical, weapon-like signaling.
