Later news places him a mile north of Green river nine miles from Auburn. He robbed Frank and his wife Pott, forced supper, then vanished into the woods. Pott notes Tracy appears badly rheumatic and weakened.
New York on July 12 reports Mexican dollars at 417 and a half cents silver at 5 270 copper unchanged.
Mrs. McKathron wife of traveling salesman for Parker & Co Chicago appears to have drowned after a buggy crash on a river crossing. Roy Underhill a farmhand confessed they planned an elopement, admitted smashing the buggy and staging a death to join her. Underhill jailed amid mob violence. McKathron in Chicago awaiting word.
July 12 Chicago reports truck drivers acting in sympathy with freight handlers refusing to haul freight. Freight houses tied up as unions block entrances. If settlement fails, South Water commission men could lose half a million. Twenty one train cars of vegetables arrive at Illinois Central warehouse but cannot be handled. Large amounts of cheese butter and eggs stranded. Police guard increased at freight houses. University of Chicago workers strike over non union steam fitters.
Pottsville dispatch reports Representative Patterson returning home says he spent yesterday in conference with Senator Hanna on settling the anthracite miners strike. Patterson says negotiations may yield an early settlement favorable to the United Mine Workers and Roosevelt vows to aid quickly. Daniel Gilden of Coaldale plans a 100000 name petition to Senator Quay urging action against corporations to end the strike.
Paris reports Mont Peles eruptions yesterday with showers of stones across the country. Authorities note no loss of life or major damage as the event continues to be monitored.
