Udalls postal reform dream sour needs new reforms

Voyager 2 computer halts boom lock at Pasadena

Voyager 2's on board computer unexpectedly cancelled the command to eject a dust cover from the instrument platform end of the boom delaying preparations for its nine year voyage. JPL officials cited no reason for the abrupt action and noted Voyager 1 remains tentatively set for a September launch.

Lance Pledges Stock as Collateral for Two Banks

Bert Lance pledged the same stock dividends as collateral for two loans totaling 2.6 million dollars from Manufacturers Hanover Trust and another bank. A Lance spokesman said the act technically violated a June 30 1975 loan clause but the bank did not demand repayment. Senate and White House officials offered cautious comments, with Powell acknowledging improper intent was unclear while conceding pledging the same stock to two banks was improper.
