The Central Criminal Court proceedings include a capital burglary verdict with a mercy recommendation for George Moneton rans and a death sentence to be recorded, while Richard Wilson and Thomas Young face burglary and theft verdicts. A hackney coach abuse case against Crossley is also heard with a fine imposed.
An 1873 inquest at the Duke of Wellington public-house, Chichester, before Coroner James Powell examined witnesses about Harriet Coompson’s death. Testimony described a dispute with Woodman and Horn, a bloodied razor, and a scene of violence with Horn’s alleged innocence claimed by several witnesses. verdict returned of wilful murder by unknown person or persons.
John Chapman announces a season supply of Hawker style shooting gloves and exclusive cravats for field use. Also advertised are silk pocket handkerchiefs, with Royal and military trade listings. Confectionery, brandy, and tonic medicines are pitched with long product blurbs and health claims.

In Middlesex Sessions, John James Dawes aged fifteen was found guilty of stealing three crowns and one shilling from Francia Henry Dawes. The jury, amid concerns over juvenile delinquency, sentenced him to transportation for seven years. Another youth, Robert Harman, received a similar transport sentence for robbery. The grand jury indicted James Irish, Charles De Boos, Barnett, and Edward Russeil for keeping a common gaming house, the Berkeley Club House, in Allyemarie Street.
Police intelligence from Hatton Garden reports actor Mr Hicks charged with assaulting two men named Jacques during a theatre performance at Sadler's Wells. Witnesses testified to the fracas on stage with claims of provocation and indecent remarks about a twelve year old dancer linked to the defendant.
Daniel Sullivan charged with stabbing Michael Hog after a quarrel at a Southwark pub. Court heard Hog was wounded in the abdomen, knife allegedly sharpened for a "particular purpose." Police recovered a bloodied knife. Sullivan denied stabbing. The case was committed for trial. Thames Office: Sellen and Boulter charged with stealing pork from the Harriet West Indiaman during port activity. Witnesses saw pork taken and hidden. both prisoners committed for trial.

A London literary group opposes the Polish Aristocracy’s use of the Literary Association of the Friends of Poland to back Czartorynski's pro monarchist moves. The letter authorizing public disclosure was not published and the association’s stance is condemned. The protest cites past grievances and promises to reveal documents up to year 1834.
A writer to the daily press warns of Bank of England influence on the tea trade, arguing Bank issues and discounts drive price fluctuations. The letter accuses directors of foreknowledge and manipulation to amass national wealth and stresses the danger of concentrated power.
In Maidstone potatoes sell for fourteen pence per bushel as crops look well despite humidity. Glasgow Chronicle notes fine harvest and improving weather with many shearers at Cross. Berwick-upon-Tweed reports general harvest, mixed wheat and barley yields, good oats and variable wages. Aberdeenshire harvest begins late with plentiful grain, oats and barley promising strong overall output.
Friday Lord Kelburne was entertained at dinner at Ayr in a gathering of 509 gentlemen. The Earl of Eglington presided with Colonel the Hon. F Macadam Cathcart as vice president. Guests included Mr Malcolm, Mr W A Alexander, Mr Craufurd of Craufurdland, Mr S Dalglish, Mr Kelso of Sandhiel, Rev Dr Auld MP Bewshire, and others. Grace was said by Rev Auld with thanks from Rev Mr Cathill.
