Hart versus Alsop lead mine injunction refused

In Vice Chancellor's Court on Nov 15 Hart v Alsop sought to restrain lead mine operations in Derbyshire but the court refused the injunction with costs after a three day hearing. Wilcox v Maxted a bill to dissolve a partnership led to an injunction to restrain debts and interferences. the court granted the injunction. The session closed after motions with no further notable causes.

Hull Libel Case and Pawnbroker Writ Move

The court sentenced a defendant for two Hull libels to nine months in jail at Bury St Edmunds, six months for a groundless attack on Dr Bolton, and three more months for a libel on Mr Ratkes, Mayor of Hull, with five years’ peace bonds. A separate writ of habeas corpus was heard over John M. Cording’s Pawnbrokers Act case after Ballantine’s detention.
