Water bore at left bank of Seine promises endless heat
At a Paris science meeting the Academy reported drilling to 1,200 French feet for water with 23.5 C at depth and an estimated 35 C at 2,000 feet. The project aims to heat baths, potentially replacing fuel use with abundant warm water from deep wells. The Moniteur Belge also lawfully grants foreigners inheritance rights equal to Belgians. Separately, a crowd witnessed a hazardous omnibus race near Vauxhall Bridge as reins forced a driver to push beyond safety, causing a horse to stumble and panic among passengers.
