Factory location lead eyed for Troy industrial boom
The Business Men's Association discussed moving a large foundry forge and machine shops to Troy. The target site spans about 15 acres with options to 100 acres, near Vandalia railroad, with 158 acres donated and 10 years tax exemption. Plant costs rise to several hundred thousand dollars, employing about 300 workers with a $10,000 monthly payroll. A committee will meet with the company next week to confirm location, signaling a potential major industrial development for Troy.
