NEW ENGINE TESTED FOR FIRE FIGHTING IN LOGANPORT IND
A demonstration of Fallon portable chemical engine manufactured by Obenchain & Boyer of Logansport Indiana drew about 500 spectators Tuesday evening at the old mill site in the West End. Under B F Barnett supervision the test proved the apparatus could suppress fire rapidly, delivering a 110 to 140 pound pressure in the tank and completing charging in about three minutes. The unit, weighing about 1000 pounds, uses carbonic acid gas generated by sulfuric acid and bi carbonate of soda and requires no external water supply, promising effective service with minimal pumping. The city may acquire a second engine for 325 dollars if purchased by May 1906.
