Tight Rate War In Troy Illinois City Hall Debates Lighting
A Troy Illinois council faces a protest from the Business Men's Association over proposed electric rates. A 25 cent flat rate for all lights is debated, with support cited from Highland and Benton. The council splits, Mayor Stolte votes no, and the former rate is restored while further study is ordered. The association urges a swift, uniform adjustment and street lighting funding via city appropriation.
