The Troy Press Brick Co plant southeast of town near the Sherman Park tract will double its daily output from 20,000 to 40,000 with a new Andrus dry press machine. S. W. Rawson and J. W. Garnet contracted in St. Louis for the equipment, due in weeks. The firm already holds half a million bricks on hand and has sizable orders.

Passing of Herman Stolte Sr in Pin Oak township
Herman Stolte Sr a longtime Pin Oak township resident died at his home at 9 30 this morning after a long illness. He was 80 years 3 months and 16 days old. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at noon from his residence to St Pauls Evangelical Lutheran church with interment in the Lutheran cemetery. The obituary is deferred to the next issue.

Died Sudden Death At Hotel In St Jacob
Louis Heelscher formerly a city bartender was found dying in his room at Railroad hotel in St Jacob around 11 pm Thursday. He retired in good health about 10 pm. an hour later groans were heard and he died minutes later. An inquest was held but verdict not learned. He was about 40, single, with sister in Edwardsville and a brother in Pierron. Funeral today. Court records and liquor case verdicts in circuit court
Thirty five defendants were fined for illegal liquor sales totaling over 3000 dollars with an average penalty near 90 dollars. Philip Mernaugh was found guilty of murder at Granite City and sentenced to life imprisonment. A jury initially favored hanging on the murder verdict. Numerous cases from the October term and other actions were disposed or continued in the circuit court, including a $1000 verdict for George Rodhas against the National Enameling and Stamping Co.
