Live Wire Tragedy in Granite City Claims Youth
William Koch, 19, a Troy native and hospital employee, touched a dangling live 2,300 volt electric wire near Lutheran Hospital in Granite City and was instantly killed. An inquest returned a verdict of death by his own deliberate carelessness. Koch had warned others to avoid the wire and left Troy in November for Granite City employment. His funeral plans and interment at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church were announced amid family arrangements.
