Record crowd marks end of Eastern States Exposition
Sunday night closed the Eastern States Exposition with a new attendance record exceeding 600000 over the Sunday period. The largest ever horse show year featured 22500 in prize money plus ib bons and silverware. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police debuted a new Exhibition Ride honoring Queen Elizabeth. Highlights included Roman riding tandem work with two teams and a grueling 68-jump finale. Local stables fared well led by Jim Rooney’s Seventh Step as Champion Horse Colt, with many placements across amateur and professional classes. The first annual Children’s Fall Foliage Horse Show was announced for Adams, Massachusetts, starting at 9 a.m. with 19 classes and trophies to be awarded.
