The Taconic Hiking Club of Vermont plans a Sunday hike along the Long Trail in Vermont led by Bennington club member John Paulson. A 7 mile Dunville Hollow leg begins at dawn with a noon lunch atop Harmon Hill and a lean to replacing Deerview Shelter. Anita Rioux handles reservations.
Miss Helen Fitzgerald, 91, a retired employee of Cluett Peabody & Co., died Tuesday at Leonard Hospital after a long illness. A native of Troy and St. Peter's Church communicant, she resided at 51 Grand St. Survived by cousins. Funeral from Frank P. McDonald Funeral Home tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. then Requiem High Mass at St. Peter's Church at 9 a.m. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery.
This week's events include a chancel choir rehearsal at 7 p.m. and a pastoral relations committee meeting at 8 p.m. tomorrow a Commission on Christian Social Concerns meets at 7:30 p.m. Saturday offers a Boy Scout God and Country Award class led by Rev. J. Franklin Moist. A baptism at the church involved Earl Donald Gifford I with his family, and a recently donated baptismal font honors Fred Vaughn Jr. World War II casualties are noted, and Mrs. Stephen H. Curtis has returned from a visit to her son-in-law.
Mrs Florence Lee and relatives from Erie Pa visited. Miss Mary Winsor graduates and begins clinical psychology graduate study at Ohio University Athens with sister Ruth at Syracuse and brother Chester at RPI. Mr and Mrs John Lynd of Medford Long Island visited their son and daughter in law. Henry Kienle recovers from surgery at Samaritan Hospital.
Miss Colleen P Cullen daughter of Dr and Mrs James R Cullen returns to Westbrook Junior College Portland Maine for her senior year at the 1993 15th Street residence continues her studies as she starts her final year at the Portland college
The New York State Automobile Association and clubs begin distributing 250000 leaflets urging support for Governor Rockefeller s 2.5 billion transportation bond proposal. They stress 1.25 billion must fund highway construction and cannot subsidize transit or toll bridges, aiming to persuade voters on Election Day.
The Cpl. Arthur Wills Chapter of the Military Order of the Purple Heart met at 763 3rd Ave discussing a hospital party at the Albany V A Hospital. Final rummage sale plans were set for tomorrow and Saturday with reports on the National Convention presented by chapter delegates.
