Man Held For Theft Of 1300 Dollars
James Frederick Bombard, 49, was questioned by Troy police and Dist. Atty. Earle J. Wiley as he awaits trial at the November term of Rensselaer County Court. He is charged with grand larceny for stealing about 1400 in cash from the basement of the D. A. Schulte Inc cigar store at Fulton and River Streets during Christmas Eve. He admitted taking the money after seeing the manager counting it, then rode a taxi to Albany and on to New York. He was returned to Troy on a bench warrant after earlier indictments and jail terms for impersonating an officer. He appeared wearing a major’s insignia and claimed military service in the Canadian army. He was later returned to Rensselaer County Jail.
