Many Draw Fines For Violations
Five people were fined 20 dollars each for driving 70 mph or more by Justice of the Peace Victor Sluzas in Hoosick. Eleven received 13 dollar fines for speeds 50 to 60 mph. Other fines included 15 dollars for muffler and unregistered vehicle violations, 12 dollars for speeding, and 10 dollars for various offenses. Multiple drivers from New York, Connecticut, Vermont, and Massachusetts were named among the offenders.

John VanDerKar 21 of Hoosick Falls was fined 5 for inadequate steering and muffler issues. Lucien Conti 25 of Pittsfield Mass and Eric Creel of Norwood N J were each fined 10 for speeding and failure to keep right. Thomas S McDonald 20 of Bennington forfeited 10d bail for open container charge. Eagle Bridge Methodist Church Education Commission to meet at 7 p.m. today followed by Official Board at 8 p.m.

The funeral for 72 year old Mrs. Anna B. Savage of Hoosick Falls was held Friday at the Church of the Immaculate Conception. Rev. Alfred Ellis celebrated a Requiem High Mass and conducted the committal at St Mary’s Cemetery with bearers who were her nephews Walter Blinstrub, Joseph Blinstrub, Robert Blinstrub, Albert Waytkus, Joseph Waytkus, and Anthony Waytkus.

Central School Closed Today for Teacher Conference
Hoosick Falls Central School will be closed today while students have the day off. Teachers will attend a conference at Brittonkill School with educators from Brittonkill Berlin Hoosick Valley and Wynantskill. Morning and afternoon lectures on Educational Motivation and conferences on motivation devices will run. Lunch at 1 45 p.m. Friday Sept 29 the Eastern Zone Teachers convention in Albany will close the Central School again.

Enrollment at New Lebanon Central School rose to 963 pupils last week, up from 886 after the first full week last year and 853 the prior year.
