Roosevelt outlines postwar plans and new invasions strategy
In a Capitol Hill address President Roosevelt sketches postwar social security measures for returning service members and calls for broader educational opportunities. He details planned Allied offensives from Italy to China, stressing unity of strategy and noting gaps in past lines. He predicts a Russian invasion of Germany and intensified bomber operations in Europe, with continued aid to China and renewed offensives in Burma. The speech stresses vigilance to avoid a future gap in sea power and asserts Japan will not again dominate territories won by mandate.
