Dewey crisis prompt liberal press urged soldiers union
The Liberal Press of Chester Pa advocates organizing 11,000,000 soldiers into a CIO led GI union to counter liberal and industrialist attacks. It accuses West Point Annapolis officers and the Navy of misleading troops and calls for soldier representation in policy and wages while criticizing Roosevelt era military discipline. The piece cites John L Lewis defense claims and warns of a political ally of the New Deal shaping military loyalty.
