Veterans Get Job Preference In Federal Service
The Record notes plans to retain veterans in government jobs after the war by awarding five to ten extra examination points and restoring old posts. Non veterans may be dismissed first if staff cuts occur, with officials required to justify any veteran denials to the Civil Service Commission. The policy aims to protect service members while balancing postwar workforce reductions.

Veterans Preference Rules in Civil Service Exams
After WWII many women join government service, but future staffing may shrink. The Civil Service Commission plans to hire veterans disproportionately to match population and industry, using minimum ratings of 70. Disabled veterans receive bonus points, and veterans are prioritized on the eligible list even if scores are equal. Non-disabled veterans are given five extra points, and when veteran and non veteran scores tie, the veteran ranks first.
