Equal Rights For Women Still Not Law
Washington 4 Women in the United States have fought for equal rights since the first rights conver. The movement gained momentum with the 1920 constitutional amendment granting women the vote. Since then attempts to add equal rights provisions have repeatedly failed in Congress. In Chicago this year both major parties included an equal rights plank for the 1944 elections, a sign of progress even as passage remains uncertain. The Senate and House have not moved the measure despite efforts to force debate.
