Mansfield Urges U N Peace Move in Vietnam War Talks
Senate Democratic Leader Mike Mansfield urged a United Nations peace move, warning that escalating U S involvement in Vietnam will not end the war. He noted 525,000 troops expected by mid 1968, costs at $2.5 billion per month, and near 100,000 American casualties. He said air action has failed to cut supplies and urged restraint over further bombing. He spoke to the Missouri Bar Association.
