Cockpit and Cabin Testing OK'd For Moon LEM Mockup
Grumman reports successful cockpit and cabin tests on a Lunar Excursion Module mockup mounted in a KC-135 at Wright Patterson AFB Ohio. The tests used 30 second zero gravity parabolas across eight flights totaling about 75 minutes weightlessness to validate cockpit and crew provisions for 1/6 g environments with both unpressurized and pressurized suits. Further reduced gravity studies including ingress egress and restraint systems will continue into 1966.
