Fire destroys Saratoga Sulphur and Mud Baths building
A large one story wooden structure housing the Saratoga Sulphur and Mud Baths on Union avenue burned in the early hours. Firemen fought the blaze from 1 a.m. until 4:10 a.m. with ruins smouldering at 6:30 a.m. Chief Carroll mobilized off duty men as investigators assess damage and cause. the building was insured.

Widow of Area Minister Edyth Pettingell Dies at 78
Edyth L. Pettingell, 78, widow of Rev. George H. Pettingell, died suddenly Monday night at her daughter’s home in Delmar. Born in Tribes Hill in 1880, she served with her husband in multiple pastorates and is survived by three daughters and 11 grandchildren. Funeral is tomorrow at 1 p.m. at the First Methodist Church of Delmar with interment in Tribes Hill.

Bronx Man Sentenced After Safe Cracking Attempt
John Joseph Hunter 43 from the Bronx was sentenced to 6 to 12 years in Clinton State Prison for an attempted safe cracking in Albany. He was convicted by an Albany County jury on burglary possessing burglar tools and attempted larceny. Michael De Stephan 53 of Schenectady testified against Hunter and faces sentencing tomorrow on possessing burglary tools.

Taylor Reports No Contributions for Reelection
Rep. Dean P. Taylor of Troy filed with the Clerk of the House that he had received no contributions toward his reelection in the 31st district as of Monday Oct. 20. Funeral rites for H. J. Nolan held in Grafton
Harold J. Nolan died from injuries in an October automobile crash. Funeral services were held at Himes Funeral Home and St. Francis de Sales Church with a high Mass by Rev. Francis P. Hanlon.
