New Gray Ladies Recruitment for Albany Veterans Hospital

Rensselaer County Red Cross asks for Gray Ladies volunteers for the Albany Veterans Hospital. Training starts in January at Mrs. John L. Milliken’s Waterford home. Volunteers must be 21 to 85, complete a course, and pass a ten hour probation.

Clement Waad Dies in Schenectady Poet Laureate

Clement Waad, a noted poet and biographer, died in Schenectady after a stroke at his home in nearby Delison. He was 62 and had won broad acclaim for works ranging from biographies of Walt Whitman and Amy Lowell to histories and verse that set to music. He had lived in Schenectady for over twenty years, building a home by a creek and earning literary prizes.
