WAC Recruiting Drive Nears Goal

Washington reports high powered publicity is driving the WAC all states recruiting drive toward its quota. Ninth Services Command has met its quota with one week left. Some Carolina counties already exceed targets. October drive will offset faltering WAC enlistments and replace about 20 000 female soldiers who did not renew after Women’s Army Corps joined the regular army. Mass induction ceremonies are planned for volunteers. Trainloads of prospective WACs have been dispatched to Washington. The campaign now targets WAC air force recruitment for women whose civilian work may fit specialized air force roles.
