Edwin Crujeshank a 39 year old prisoner from Rensselaer escaped from Camp Adirondack on Tuesday and was captured by New York State Police in a Wilmington summer cottage on Thursday evening after a tip from residents. He was serving time for forgery at Ray Brook minimum security prison.
The Capital District Regional Planning Commission approved a community pool in East Greenbush and a boiler for Donald P. Sutherland School. Superintendent says only the boiler project will proceed.
EAST GREENBUSH A antiques show and sale featuring 25 dealers will be held today and Saturday at the Greenbush Reformed Church Christian Education Building on Hays Road and Columbia Turnpike. Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. today and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.
A fall fair at 33 Broadway Rensselaer features booths with bicentennial dolls jewelry stamps and baked goods. A snack bar will offer lunch and roast pork dinner tickets available from 5 to 7 p.m.

New Channels received a zoning variance for a proposed 100 to 110 foot cable TV receiving tower on Stock Lane in East Greenbush. The variance requires a site plan review by the town planning board after subdivision approval. Tobie Anderson noted the approval is contingent on plan review.

Kim E. Johnson of Clifton Park won the Marilyn Monroe Look-Alike contest at Colonie Center, celebrated for her 20th birthday this Saturday. First runner-up was Sandy LaBagh of Albany and second runner-up Ellen Wentworth of Scotia. Each contestant received film passes and gift certificates, with $100, $50, and $50 donations designated to leukemia, kidney, and psychiatric centers respectively in their names.
The Colonie Youth Recreation Center in Latham announces winter activities under Victor Sgambato Sr. The schedule lists car and airplane modeling, boxing, magic classes, weightlifting for youths ten and up, decorating, leathercraft, movies, boxing for boys, and teen dances with Thursday and Friday events and visits to other centers.
The third annual Youth Business Conference will be held Tuesday October 26 from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Colonie Room at Colonie Center. Sponsored by the Greater Colonie Chamber of Commerce and the guidance departments of Shaker and Colonie Central High Schools, the event features discussion groups between local business professionals and youths. Businesses wishing to participate should call the Chamber of Commerce.
Robert J. Verne, 20, of 251 Green St., Schenectady, was indicted by the Albany County Grand Jury on one count of third degree burglary for allegedly entering a Colonie grocery store on Sand Creek Road at about 1:20 a.m. on Sept. 28, per the District Attorney's office.
Airport officials expect to open the refinished north south runway on Oct. 30. The runway will be the primary for planes at the airport, replacing the east west runway during the work. The change increased flights over areas with light air traffic.
The Town of Colonie Recreation and Parks Department will sponsor a men’s winter basketball league. James G. Aambardino says play starts October 27 at Sand Creek and Lishakill Schools. Open to town residents over 22, games Wednesdays for 16 weeks.
Dr. Armenak Ajamian has been named a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Fellowship indicates completion of 600 plus hours of accredited continuing medical education or achieving diplomate status by passing the specialty exam in family practice.
An Albany County Grand Jury indicted four men in separate Albany incidents. Richard E. Treadway pled guilty to third degree burglary and petty larceny for a July 24 Westerlo break in. Indicted: Walter Timofeev charged with operating a vehicle under the influence after an Oct. 10 event. David Eagleton charged with second degree criminal possession of a forged instrument from Feb. 23 on Central Ave. Albany. Dennis J. Jones charged with second degree robbery and third degree burglary from Aug. 22 on Orange Street. Richard McGuire charged with second degree robbery second degree criminal possession of stolen property and second degree assault tied to a Sept. 6 Guilderland case. Norman T. Trendell charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in Aug. 20 Guilderland incident.
Nassau officials announce the proposed 1977 town budget is available at Town Hall for public review. A public hearing on the plan will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Town Hall.
