Oldest Samaritan synagogue found near Mount Gerizim site
Prof Edeset Gukeaik of Hebrew University led excavations near Latrun and Balbit in Palestine, revealing the Balbit Synagogue oriented to Mount Gerizim with a mosaic and a seven-branched candlestick. The find, financed by Louis M. Rabinowitz, supports Samaritan ties to ancient Israelite religion and their presence near Nablus amid the Arab–Jewish war, with ongoing diggings under guard. The Samaritans, descendants of a northern Israelite group, preserved a distinct rite and language while largely dwindling in number.

Vaccine research aims to prevent high blood pressure
A University of Blinell College of Medlelan study reports a potential vaccine to prevent hypertension. Researchers led by Dr. G. E. Wakertin test dog kidney material, including renin, in dogs, with funding from the Public Health Service and others.
