Members of the CARB Garrison No. 1984 Army and Navy Union held their annual memorial service for four Troy Area veterans. The 9 a.m. Mass at St. Mary's Church honored Carmen I. Cie Joarelli James A. Agars John F. Rea and Bruno D. Bevevine with processions from 16 Liberty Street under Commander Peter Menelli. Nicholas Fureiniti led arrangements as families and four Gold Star Mothers attended followed by breakfast in garrison rooms.

Camp Fire Group At School 14 Plans Halloween Event
The School 14 Camp Fire group enjoyed its first overnight camping trip at East Poestenkill with leaders Mrs. Frank Lockwood and Miss Minerva Castle. They cooked outdoors, sang, played games, toasted marshmallows, studied leaves and mosses for terrarium collections, and plan a Halloween costume party at Mrs. Lockwood’s home on Oct. 28. The next meeting includes a ceremonial and awards, with Barbara Nelson, Made Heine Criscione, and Marjorie Broadbeck on the organizing committee.
Fire units respond to rubbish blaze on Canal Avenue
At 7 29 am Saturday Jumper 3 of the Troy Fire Department responded to a telephone alarm reporting a rubbish fire on Canal Avenue between 2nd and 3rd Streets. The crew returned to the station shortly after. An estimated 25 million Americans go fishing, the county's most popular outdoor participation sport.
