Set Career Night At High School

The Hudson Valley Guidance Association will host a career night at Waterford-Halfmoon High School on Thursday evening October 26. Sponsored by guidance departments of Hoosic Valley Hoosick Falls Lansingburgh Mechanicville Schuylerville Stillwater Tamarac and Waterford Halfmoon, the event targets juniors and seniors. About 50 institutions including colleges special schools military services business and industry will participate.

K. of C. Plans Communion Breakfast

George I. Curley, Troy attorney, will be the principal speaker at the Waterford K of C annual Columbus Day Communion and breakfast. Members attend the 8 a.m. Mass at St. Mary's Church then breakfast at Tironi's Restaurant. Miss Florence Gage Dies at 77 Rites Monday

Miss Florence R. Gage 77 formerly of Albany and Watervliet died yesterday at the Presbyterian Home. She worked 43 years at Cluett Peabody and retired at 60. A lifelong church worker, she served as Sunday School director and choir soloist, led Christian Endeavor, and held Missionary Society roles. Funeral Monday at 10 a.m. at the Presbyterian Home with burial in Albany Rural Cemetery.

Woman killed in Route 17 collision near Horseheads

Mrs. Elnora M. Sewell, 75, of Horseheads, N.Y., died in a Thursday crash when her car collided with a tractor-trailer on Route 17 in Chemung County. The 75-year-old woman was the sole occupant of the car. Police investigations are underway to determine fault and cause.
