Maple Hill ham radio club reaches distant shores from Schodack

Maple Hill High School in Schodack houses a radio club led by John Kienzle WA2YON with about 30 to 35 students. The group has spoken to operators in Germany, England, Italy, and Los Angeles, and has reached nearly 40 countries. They study electronics, visit Albany Medical College, monitor Hurricane Belle, and experiment with slow scan television while pursuing higher class amateur licenses.

Rensselaer Police Announce Three Arrests

RENSSELAER police report three arrests over the weekend. Ernest W. Brooking, 19, of 908 Broadway, charged with seventh degree possession of a controlled substance after an arrest at 11 52 p m Saturday behind 851 Broadway. Bail set at 500 dollars. he faces City Court on Oct 7. Michael Luce of Green Island arrested Friday on third degree burglary and second degree larceny and handed to Troy Police. Howard J. Haberkern of 20 Columbia St. arrested Monday on criminal mischief fourth degree based on information signed by Francis Ruddy of the same address.
