Application Made for New Radio Station Albany
The communications commission heard testimony in Washington in support of Van Curler Broadcasting Co. for a new Albany station to replace WOKO at 1460 kilocycles. WOKO’s license renewal was denied. WOKO won reversal in the Circuit Court of Appeals, with the government seeking Supreme Court review. Dismissals of Albany and Fort Orange applications left Van Curler as the sole applicant for the frequency, with a $250,000 paid-up capitalization.
