Troy to receive state TOPICS aid for traffic study

Howard House Hotel Fire Destroys Saratoga Site
The Howard House Hotel and Restaurant on Railroad Place in Saratoga Springs suffered a fire of undetermined origin Wednesday. Fire crews were summoned at 4:55 a.m. and extinguished the blaze by 5:30 a.m. A taxi driver first noted smoke from a second story window, and heavy damage occurred between the first floor ceiling and second floor flooring.

Albany Man Struck By Car On First Street
A 72 year old Albany man, John E. Dugan of 158 Winthrop Ave., was struck crossing First Street from east to west and taken to St. Peter's Hospital in good condition with left leg pain and possible fractured hip. Driver Vero E. Zelenke, 32, RD4 Box 4658, was not charged. Police investigators were Harod Flavin Jr. and Robert McDonald.
