Training boosts lumberjack careers at Nanaimo school
In Nanaimo British Columbia the six week program at the Vancouver Island Vocational School for Loggers teaches modern logging methods and field training. Chief instructor Bill Murphy notes the field now uses mechanical methods and that 95 percent of students gain placements before graduation. He urges youth to pursue the career citing steady timber supply and improving camp conditions.
