Dealers Call For Ceilings On Used Cars
Washington reports that the drain of used cars to higher profit markets has pushed dealers to seek price ceilings. An OPA spokesman said such ceilings may be needed if firms cannot stay in business. A National Automobile Dealers Association official notes some protest their flow to the Midwest, while overall dealer opposition remains. OPA has studied used car ceilings since last April and plans a joint government review with other agencies. Proposals would base ceilings on October 1942 average guidebook prices.
