Mayor Ronald Canestrari says the city has more than 3 million in police misconduct claims filed but only 1.065 million remains outstanding. He cites a Times Record piece noting five of twelve claims have been closed, explaining the smaller outstanding figure.
Cohoes officials challenged claims of three million dollars in police lawsuits calling them inaccurate. A Times Record report noted 3,365,000 in claims filed with some dropped, while past five year dismissals totaled 2,066,500 with 4,475 in settlements. Police officers McKown and Ross were suspended over separate incidents, and Monast’s case was not part of the probe. Leonard Weiss represents Monast, who faces criminal charges.
The St. Anne Society of Sacred Heart parish hosts an Election Day smorgasbord Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. A mini bazaar features handmade articles and the event is open to the public.

The Cohoes Community Center presents a two night course on Christmas tree and home decorations on November 30 and December 7 from 7 to 9 pm. Deborah Brammer will teach with gifts as featured items on display at 22 Remsen Street. A nominal fee applies and pre registration is due by November 25.
The town will conduct a two week leaf collection starting Monday through November 18. Richard M. Hurst, town highway superintendent, says leaves should be bagged and placed where garbage is normally collected. Small branches must be bundled during the drive.
