Burgh School Budget Details Move to Raise Costs and Staff Changes
The district outlines a budget with higher private and public bus costs and adjusted state aid due to enrollment. Only two of seven requested staff increases will go forward, adding four elementary teachers and eliminating two junior and senior high positions. The plan eliminates the $13,000 school lunch fund, with board president LaRose stressing the need to maintain education levels amid rising costs. Voters will fill four school board seats across varying term lengths, with brochures available and registration set for May 29 and June 1 at Knickerbocker.

Announcement Not A Gift Solicitation
Springtime graduation notices explain that announcing a graduation is not a request for gifts. Gift giving is for relatives or close acquaintances, with practical items for students and cash or savings bonds always appreciated. Receivers should send personal thank you notes promptly.

Water Heater Sizing and Family Water Needs
The piece explains that water heaters have long lifespans and that upgrading size alone may not solve hot water shortages. It advises consulting a plumbing contractor to assess current and future needs including all plumbed-in appliances.
Wasting Water Waste Causes Hidden Costs
A short piece warns that minor faucet leaks waste thousands of gallons monthly and half of municipal water is wasted by running taps during chores. It urges habits to conserve water, notes aerators cut usage, and explains they mix air to reduce needed water while cleaning.
