Dunn Says He Aims To Not Profit From War
Kansas City contractor J E Dunn says he does not want to profit from the war and that the government stands to gain about 400000 on a large Army contract. His bid of 1863655 last year for a Kansas City quartermaster depot was 250000 below the next-lowest, and he claimed the project was at cost. His profit later rose to 173000, and he renegotiated the contract to cut another 150000. He would pay federal taxes and donate the balance to Red Cross, USO and others to keep his organization intact for his sons to carry on after the war. His son J E Dunn Jr is a Marine aviator and another son attends Notre Dame Navy classes.
