Senator Joseph R McCarthy announced he will publish portions of government loyalty files concerning Owen Lattimore. He says copies include alleged fraud in State Department matters and that he will reveal them at a Catholic editors convention in Rochester New York. Lattimore denies the charges and cooperation with communists.
Senator McCarthy, alleging state department deception, says he will publish pertinent loyalty files on Owen Lattimore to expose fraud in the department’s white paper. He cites Barrett’s State Department reply to his editors’ speech as proof of a cover up and asserts public release is necessary.
Mrs Lillian Frament of Cohnes visited Mr and Mrs Robert Frament and family. A strap collection for the Speigletown District Volunteer Fire Co building fund was held recently. Mrs Joseph Rodriguez Jr led a session on tower arrangement at St Johns Church of Cornell University. A surprise party celebrated Donald G Wheeler's birthday at his home. About thirty Entests of the Troy ki Club attended. Wheeler is president. The GH Club Spirit of 42 held its monthly meeting at Miss Virginia Sandersons home.
The Rotary Club plans a Ladies Night at Troy Country Club on Thursday June 6 with afternoon golf and cards for women, evening program, prizes, music by Ray Horn and orchestra, and meals. Key organizers include Francia Miner as general chair, Elwin E. Glover chairing the program, and various committee heads handling transportation prizes and publicity.
Grafton Leonard Martin was taken to Leonard Hospital in the first week for an operation. Mr and Mrs Donald Walker are noted in the text.
The Averill Park Central School Alumni Association holds its annual meeting at the school this afternoon. Officers will be elected during the business session with refreshments and entertainment to follow.
