Landon urged bold anti Kremlin campaign in Emporia speech
In Emporia Kansas former Republican president candidate Landon declared the United States must launch an immediate political and diplomatic offensive against the Kremlin. He outlined a five point program to end communism and argued the Soviet Union could dominate if unchecked. He urged unity of Europe and continued open door in China while Japan should become self supporting. He criticized current policy as timid and said decisions in Washington must force Moscow to back down, with the United Nations as a battleground for freedom.
