Hoosick Falls Votes to Maintain Tax Rate at 37 per 1000

The Hoosick Falls village board held a special meeting and kept the net tax rate at $37 per $1,000 for another year. Losses in real estate assessments and Boston & Maine railroad valuations, plus increased veterans exemptions and Grievance Day adjustments, pressured the budget. An $8,000 landfill expense, across the board raises, and a Master Plan survey raised costs, but higher per capita state aid from $3 to $6.55 offsets the impact, preserving the current tax rate.
