Six arrested in Winthrop drug thefts

A multi department probe spanning months led to six arrests in a series of Demerol thefts from Sterling Winthrop in Rensselaer. Suspects include Dale Prusky Richard Harbeck Susan Kellar and Stephen Benedetto charged with various felonies and misdemeanors. Authorities say cooperation from Sterling Winthrop aided the investigation.

Paterson to address dinner at Albany VA Hospital awards

Senator Lloyd H. Paterson will speak at Albany Veterans Administration Hospital volunteer awards at Knights of Columbus Hall. Rensselaer Arraigns 20-year-old in loitering charge

Rensselaer police report that Gonzalez Jr. 20 of 5195 Burnside Ave Bronx will be arraigned today before Judge Thomas Delaney on a loitering charge at 85 Aiken Ave Rensselaer. He was arrested at 2 28 p m Wednesday at 85 Aiken Ave Rensselaer. A separate report notes an unoccupied house on the 900 block of Third Street was broken into between 7 30 p m Sunday and 5 p m Monday with no determined items taken by the owner.

Shooting reported in Rensselaer drives with no injuries

An Averill Park man fired at while driving east on Washington Avenue Rensselaer at 1105 p m Wednesday. the shooter known to the victim, police reports say no injuries. A rear tire was slashed on a Columbia Turnpike car parked between 1 pm and 430 pm Wednesday. In East Greenbush two car crash on Routes 9 20 injuries to two people. Concert Series at Genet Middle School

Fire damages stolen car under Livingston Avenue bridge

Police say a car reported stolen from Tenth Street was set afire under the Livingston Avenue bridge. The blaze began about 12:41 a.m. Wednesday and was extinguished by 12:46 a.m., with the theft occurring between 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and 12:40 a.m. Wednesday.

Cleanup urged in fire prone First Street area

The Common Council urged residents of the First Street area in Southern Rensselaer County to clean up and curb littering to reduce fires. Alderman Lester Jeffries pressed bipartisan action amid repeated blazes, while the council also approved a 5877.60 serial bond for Sixth Street sewer work and outlined spring cleanup dates to be published late May.

Bennington Battle Reenactment Highlights 200th Anniversary

Bruce Beh leads Bennington Battle Reenactment events marking the 200th anniversary with about 1,400 participants and 600 camp followers in Willow Park Bennington on August 18.
