Rail Strike Loss Put At 50 Millions
The six day rail strike against five big carriers disrupted freight and passenger service, costing the industry tens of millions. Freight and wage losses, plus production interruptions, total about 50 million dollars, with vast idle periods for crews and a shift in traffic. Nationwide service began to resume as embargos lifted and trains rejoined normal operations.
