County Welfare System to undergo June overhaul
Rensselaer County will overhaul its welfare system starting June 1 under Social Services Commissioner John R. Beaudoin. The changes split eligibility determinations from cash aid and aim to reduce paperwork, boost direct services, and increase client self sufficiency with an affidavit based application and sampling validations.
Rensselaer County To Overhaul Social Services System
The Social Services Department will replace the present program with a three function system for eligibility income maintenance service delivery and need validation. Clients may request services volunteers will assist and crews will operate from a centralized message center to speed solutions. Internal training shifts and June 1 implementation follow four months of planning. Commissioner Beaudoin says the restructuring will improve service for residents.
