Saratoga Board to vote on nearly 5 million in federal jobs funds

The Saratoga County Board of Supervisors meets Monday at 2 30 p m to approve a resolution accepting almost 5 million in federal public works funds that would fund about 200 more jobs through the Employment and Training Administration for tasks like brush clearing and beautification. The board also weighs hiring two part time psychiatrists at 17500 each with benefits, raises for public health nurses and aides, and actions on an affirmative action plan and a 1 percent room tax to fund tourism and recreation.

Saratoga student wins data processing skills title

A Saratoga High School student won first place in data processing computer programming at a state VICA skills olympics held at Kiamesha Lake. She competed against 16 students as 20 area BOCES VICA Club members and advisers attended. Lynn Chandler was elected to preside over area wide BOCES meetings. The Saratoga Warren Chapter covers one of six state areas. The Columbia High School senior class hosts a spaghetti dinner on Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. A free blood pressure clinic is offered Thursday at St. Mary's School in Clinton Heights. resumes in September after summer break.

Sons of Italy Name Delegates for Grand Convention

MECHANICVILLE The Sons of Italy Lodge announced delegates for the New York State Grand Convention of the Order of Italy in America set for June 23-26 at the Concord Hotel Kiamesha Lake. Delegates include Pasquale DeMarco Angelo DeCrescente Pasquale Santagato Frank Izzo Theodore LaVigna Christopher Sgambate Phillip Fargnoli Julius Marcello Gaetano Carbone. Alternates are Richard D Alberto Jerry Zeppetelli Louis DeCrescente Salvatore Cervini. Christopher Sgambati named chairman for the Flag Day observance at the clubrooms. Angelo DeCrescente reported the lodge plans to play in the World Series of Bocci in Rome and they reached last year’s finals.

Shenendehowa AFS fund drive seeks 3500 to 4500 dollars

Shenendehowa Senior High volunteers cover over one hundred routes today through Sunday to raise 3500 to 4500 dollars for the Shenendehowa Chapter of the American Field Service. Co chairs Leonard L. Amlaw and Mrs Laura Chodos coordinate adult drivers and receipts for tax purposes. Shenendehowa has hosted AF S students for 20 years from more than 20 countries and funds also support sending local students abroad.
