MECHANICVILLE The A and P Food Store in Park Plaza Shopping Center will close within two weeks, with a final date and employee displacement details to come. Water plant reports 1976 first quarter for Mechanicville

Mechanicville produced 66.5 million gallons of water in Q1 1976, about 730000 gallons daily, compared with 66.65 million gallons in the same period of 1975. Water sources include Plum Brook Baker Brook and reserve supply amid repairs to the lagoon and impending housing development plans.

Irene Callahan ang and Jean Garofalo were elected by residents of John S. Moore Homes to join the board of commissioners. They will serve two year terms beginning July 1. The election was conducted and supervised by the League of Women Voters of Shenendehowa School.

Clifton Park Town approves 1800 for bicentennial celebration

The Clifton Park Town Board allocates 1800 to the bicentennial committee for the July 4th event at Shenendehowa School grounds. About 1000 funds go to fireworks, with the rest for food. funds are expected to be recouped via food sales. The celebration will include ballgames songfest and a giant fireworks display. The county committee approved a Liberty tree for the town hall grounds. A resident asked about safe bikeways along Clifton Country Road. officials said they would consider it.
