Work Injury Dispute Reaches Higher Courts over Champion Case

The case centers on a man named Champion who contracted a disabling disease after work duties. An award under the Workmen's Compensation Act was upheld and then reversed by higher courts. The Court of Appeals disagreed with the Appellate Division, deciding the disease was not compensable. A successor action against the local corporation was allowed to proceed. Lawyers for Mrs Champion and defendants argued over timeliness and proper forum as the action moved forward.
