Waterford man Giuseppi Ascenzi dies after brief illness
Giuseppi Ascenzi 80 of 313rd Street Waterford died Friday at Leonard Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Genazzano Italy he lived in Waterford most of his life and retired from American Locomotive Co. Survived by wife the late Antonetta Bacchiocchi three sons Mario Dominick Nazareno a daughter Mrs Samuel Japour a brother Pietro and five grandchildren. Funeral from Quandt Funeral Home to St Marys Church with Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial then interment at St Marys Cemetery Waterford.

The funeral of Leo P Fontaine of 59 Saratoga Ave Waterford was Saturday from Finn Funeral Home Waterford to St Anne's Church Waterford where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial was celebrated by Rev Edmund P Cox. Bearers were grandsons Daniel Charbonneau John Halloran Jr William Halloran Richard Fontaine Daniel Fontaine and Robert Fontaine Jr. Interment followed in St Mary's Cemetery Waterford with Father Coa officiating.

Judge defers defense in drug case after family cannot pay
Rensselaer County Judge Tim Fogarty refused a Public Defender appointment for 19 year old Robert Rivett of Lansing burgh after his sister pleaded poverty. Rivett, indicted April 14 for criminally selling dangerous drugs, appeared without counsel and was remanded to county jail with arraignment postponed to next Friday.
